Thanks...and come again!
Hey friends...
I just thought I'd drop a note to thank all who came out Friday night to McAuliffe's on the Square. I think it's safe to say everybody had a good time and it was great to be out playing for you all once again. Thanks as well to Mark and Mike for playing and Steve, Drew, Jill, and Andy for helping it all go so smoothly.
On another note...
I came home that night to a pitch black, dead silent neighborhood with the Flight for Life chopper landing in the schoolyard directly behind my house as I pulled into the driveway. Down the block, on my corner, they were pulling a guy out of something that looked like it used to be car that had apparently flipped several times, decimated a telephone pole, and came to rest upside-down on someone's front lawn. The silence was particularly deafening after a night of friends and music and lasted through to the next morning.
Be careful out there and drive safely. It's a grim reminder, but this stuff really happens.
Take care,

Dia feliz de los Muertos...
...and this, friends, is how the summer ends. I find myself absolutely fascinated with the Mexican version of All Hollows Eve; the color and pageantry, sugar skulls and marigold, the festive honoring of souls deceased and the celebration of the continuation of life. There is so much tradition there and not a bit of it forgotten.
Coincidentally, I'll be be playing a show with
Mark Harrod and
Mike Keane on
Friday, November 2nd (the official Dia de los Muertos) at
McAuliffe's on the Square. I'll be opening the show pretty much at
9:00pm sharp, so come early and hang out a while...bartenders Jill and Andy are good folks and will treat you kindly.
The record is commencing steadily. I still need to update the recording log but interested parties will find a new set of drum recording pictures over in the [
PHOTOS] page.
What else is new? I've recently picked up the mandolin and am having a blast learning it; I've even recorded a track with it already. I took it with me on a recent week-long trip to
Fence Lake, braved and conquered four lakes by day, and listened to hillbilly music by night. You can check out my impression of that trip on the [
PHOTOS (by dt)] page among others I've taken.
Take care and stay tuned.
